Find out everything you always wanted to know about peanuts and cocoa… and make your own hot chocolate!

The experience shop is inspired by its location on the banks of the Zaan River, with the view across the river towards the Olam cocoa factory and the Duyvis snack nuts factory. Set in the midst of this bustling region with its manufacturers of snack nuts, canned goods and cocoa powder, the shop pays homage to the origins of the thriving industry here – windmills. As you move through the shop, you will find all kinds of interesting facts and trivia around you.

The shop tells the story of the oil-rich cocoa and peanut seeds and investigates how and when these ingredients found their way to the Zaan region. You will find out all about the journey a peanut has to take before becoming part of a jar of peanut butter and how cocoa beans are transformed into chocolate bars, as well as exploring the unique world of authentic Zaan tins.

The shop is home to a wide range of unusual chocolate bars, lovely vintage tins and much more. And last but not least… the icing on the cake is getting to make the most delicious hot chocolate you’ve ever tasted, using locally produced cocoa powder! Mmmmm…
