Warehouse ‘De Kraai’ (The Crow) is located at Kraaiepad 1, close to the Zaanse Schans parking lot/entrance. The restaurant takes its name from former oil mill ‘De Bonte Kraai’ (The Hooded Crow) from 18th century Wormerveer. The warehouse has a rich past as an oil mill, flour mill and granary, and has been relocated a number of times. Nowadays, it is a restaurant specializing in pancakes.

History

In 1976, the entire warehouse was relocated to the Zaanse Schans in spectacular fashion. The building was cut into seven sections, each one around 5 meters long, 8 meters high and 14 meters wide, and transported to the Zaanse Schans on 14 deck barges. This impressive feat of transportation can be seen on the beautiful Delft blue ‘smuiger’ (tiled fireplace) in the Pancake Restaurant dining room.
